PASSPORTS AND VISAS

A PASSPORT is required for any US citizen traveling abroad (except, in certain occasions, to Canada and Mexico). It is your only accepted proof of citizenship abroad. A passport is necessary for any project overseas. For all questions on US passports and to learn how to apply, go to the National Passport Services Office.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PASSPORT OR IF IT WILL EXPIRE SOON (NOTE: For travel to Russia, your passport must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay in Russia. Hence, it must be valid through January 28, 2006.), YOU MUST APPLY FOR A PASSPORT ON YOUR OWN.

For Canadian citizens, go to the Canadian Passport Office.

A VISA is also required for any non-Russian citizen traveling to Russia. Brian Asker, the project director, will contact you with more information about your visa. DO NOT APPLY for a visa on your own.
